History

  • 1921

Ludwig Neumann founded the company as the "First Austrian Porcelain Factory" and specialised in the production of high, medium and low voltage insulators. In addition to the production of technical ceramics in Frauental, porcelain tableware for the industrial sector was also manufactured until 1952.
  • 1974

The company was sold to the Swedish building materials group, EUROC. The further development is characterised by a number of innovations and establishment of new product lines.
  • 1985

The entry into the environmental sector begins with the production of SCR catalysts. Subsequently, non-catalytic honeycombs, heat storage media and foundry filters are developed and successfully launched to market.
  • 1990

A management buy-out leads to the establishment of the CERAM group and the simultaneous introduction of the successful brand.
  • 2001

The insulator division is sold. The areas of catalytic and non-catalytic honeycomb thus represent the two main business areas of the Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH. Ceram Environmental Inc., Kansas, USA is founded as a 100% subsidiary and operates as a sales and service company for the North American market.
  • 2002

The group is reorganised into a industrial holdingcompany, named Frauenthal Holding AG.
  • 2005

Serial production of SCR diesel catalysts for commercial vehicles begins and are successfully launched to market. The following year, a new production facility for diesel catalysts is put into operation at the Frauental site.
  • 2007

A sales company is founded in Korea, today's IBIDEN Ceram Korea Co. ltd., based in Seoul, for customer oriented marketing in South Korea.
  • 2009

The company opens its own metal workshop at the Frauental location.
  • 2010

The production of plate catalysts for power plants begins.
  • 2012

Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH is sold to IBIDEN European Holdings B.V. and initially renamed to IBIDEN Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal GmbH.
